NEW DELHI: The emerging local terror trail in the Bangalore blasts, and now, in the far deadlier Ahmedabad blasts, has left the security agencies a worried lot. So much so, the Union home ministry officials on Saturday, hours before the 16 explosions rocked the Gujarat capital, spoke to the police chiefs of the states where home-grown outfits like Simi have a well-entrenched network — Madhya Pradesh, UP, Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka — asking them to mount vigil and track the modules operating in their territory.

The local ramifications of the recent terror attacks are also borne out by the complete radio silence witnessed both ahead of and soon after the attack. According to top intelligence sources, this has been the case for nearly a couple of years now. Earlier, the intelligence intercepts of wireless communication between attackers and their masterminds across the border were relied upon to identify the perpetrators.
